Where in the world are the Ogletree’s

After avoiding this site since inception, I have decided to dust off the cobwebs and become more active.  Charlie and I have had numerous adventures over the past two years and are excited to begin sharing these on a go forward basis.  Do not hold your breath…..as the internet is really not my friend!  Nor is the great quest of finding internet access an easy one!

We are currently in Aruba and our time there has been amazing!  Anyone who can, should really experience New Years Eve there.  It is definitely a fun (and very loud) time.   Unoffiically, fireworks start going off the day after Christmas and continue (and are still going on) until well after New years Eve.  Officially, on new years eve, business set off what I can only describe as a 20′ long string of fireworks as they close.  All over the islands, the sounds are deafining.  Add to this the m80 bombs and well, you can get the picture.  The grand finale is at midnight where there are stations all over the island setting off about a 30 min. fireworks display.   To say the least, you are sleeping if you miss the show.   Great fun!

Stay tuned for updates on our adventure and escapades!

Haul Out!

Kaya Coming Out of the Water

Kaya finally has new clothes!  She was hauled out last week and got a new bottom job, new gaskets and a few other ‘cosmetic’ touches.  Glad to have her back.  Charlie worked so hard to keep her time out of the water at a minimum.  She is now back at HYC but none too happy.  She is covered bow to stern in dust….yuk.  The yard  we use is next to Dorsett Brothers, a concrete supply company.  Dirt is everywhere!  Thanks to Dave Whelen and all the work he does for us.  He helps keep her beautiful…….

How exciting!  Dave and Dana Bethancourt are over, we are sharing a good bottle of a cheap Malbec and they are attempting to teach me how to use this site.  Thank goodness they are practicing on thier patience to prepare them for the Carribean this fall.   This test is to work on uploading a picture.  Wish me luck….
